The One Drink You’re Not Ordering at Starbucks…But Should Be.
It’s the perfect espresso + milk combo but Starbucks doesn’t call it what other coffee shops call it. In fact, it’s not even on the menu at all.
I used to always order an iced grande caramel macchiato with an extra shot of espresso. I like to call this my gateway drink to enjoying coffee. It was sweet and felt like a treat, rich enough to sip slowly and it tasted great even as it gradually watered down when the ice slowly melted.
These days I really only enjoy that drink as a memory, since my preference for more straightforward coffee without a lot of added ingredients combined with my desire to cut down on sugar has taken priority in my addiction to the bean.
Speaking of beans, most mornings I make my own coffee at home, which, if it’s Starbucks beans, means I’m grinding the organic Yukon Blend, or—when I can get it—Thanksgiving Blend. But when that 3:00 PM slump hits and I need a caffeine fix, or just an excuse to get out of the house, I’m often hankering for something a little different than my morning cup of black.
And sure, depending on the time of year, it might be a tasty diversion to…
